SoapBox Productions and Organizing is a film and social activism 501c3 nonprofit specializing in multimedia storytelling for structural social change. Our mission is to utilize media to power, frame, and sustain social movements that advance holistic solutions to root problems. In tandem with grassroots organizing efforts for racial, economic, and social justice, SoapBox delivers emotional impact storytelling for liberation. We produce documentaries, fiction films, podcasts, articles, and community-based programming that intend to educate, agitate, inspire, and ultimately transform.
Change the Dominant Narrative
Our mission models media-based organizing, a collaborative process that uses media, art, or technology to address the roots of problems and advances holistic solutions towards a more just and creative world. Media-based organizing is a community-based process to investigate problems, envision solutions, and then work together to make them real (Allied Media Projects).
Film, Media, & Art
Storytelling is craft as old as time. SoapBox believes in showcasing authentic narratives before they are co-opted by corporate structures and sharing them widely and unapologetically. Through traditional fiction film, documentary pieces, and other supporting media, SoapBox delivers emotional impact storytelling in order to create empathy around stories that educate, agitate, transform and inspire. We achieve this by blending our years of knowledge, experience, and passion with professional-grade film production and new media technologies.
SoapBox organizes for structural social change by utilizing anti-capitalist analysis in planning and creating participatory, democratic structures to power social movements with community collaborators in shared struggle. We build power, document, promote, and participate in campaigns and community efforts for racial, economic, and social equity through a transformative and intersectional lens. Our work centers young people, especially Black people and other people of color while utilizing a liberatory and anti-oppression framework to dismantle systems of hierarchy and violence. SoapBox works towards radical, holistic solutions that offer viable pathways to systems change and liberation.
